Café

Barista/Café Staff Member

Part-Time

We are looking for a cat-passionate, customer service-oriented café team member to help perform duties such as opening and closing the Café side, checking-in guests, taking orders, making drinks and food items, and cleaning the café side.  Café workers will sometimes be responsible for light prep work for the food and beverages on our menu.  Café staff is partially cross trained on Cat Lounge operations in order to answer questions of guests checking-in or over the phone.

Responsibilities

  • Operating our POS system and handling money

  • Using our online booking system to check reservations

  • Greeting guests and checking them in

  • Answering guests’ questions upon check-in

  • Taking food and beverage orders

  • Preparing drinks such as espresso drinks, smoothies, hot chocolates, and lemonades, etc.

  • Preparing food items such as paninis, wraps, dips, etc. 

  • Opening and closing duties for Café side

  • Cleaning the front and back of the Café

  • Cleaning and setting up the patio tables and chairs

  • Light prep work such as:

    • Portioning foods by weight into bags for future use

    • Flipping the sandwich unit

    • Cutting vegetables

    • Making lemonade, cold brewed tea, cold brew coffee

  • Restocking

  • Labeling baked goods

  • Answering phones

Requirements

  • MUST LOVE CATS!

  • Must be at least 18 years in age

  • Minimum of 1 years experience working in a restaurant setting

  • Minimum of 1 year experience customer service experience

  • Excellent phone communication and basic computer skills such as retail POS, online booking apps, Google Docs, etc. 

  • Must be able to work on your feet, lift at least 50 pounds, and bend frequently

  • Strong Leadership and Staff Management Capabilities

Café Manager

Full-Time

We are looking for a cat-passionate, customer service-oriented café team member to help perform duties such as inventory, ordering food and beverages directly from suppliers and using online platforms like Shipt and Pepsicopartners, ordering supplies for Café side online, making baked goods, food prep, menu changes, and calculating food cost.  Most of these duties will be performed while the Café is closed, the Manager will be trusted to work alone during our closed hours.

The Café Manager will also perform Café Staff duties when scheduled for shift during our open hours such as opening and closing the Café side, checking in guests, taking orders, making drinks and food items, and cleaning the café side. Café staff is partially cross trained on Cat Lounge operations in order to answer questions of guests checking-in or over the phone.  While Café Staff is not the first in order to answer phone calls, they are trained on the phone to help if Cat Lounge staff cannot answer the phone.

Responsibilities during Prep Shifts

  • Inventory of:

    • Baked goods, café supplies, cleaning supplies, pantry and cooler items, beverage items, alcohol

  • Analyze inventory and sales trends to decide how much of each item to prep for the week

  • Bake from recipes:

    • Cookies, muffins, cupcakes (basic cake and buttercream, pre-made fondant), brownies, cereal bars, etc.

  • Prep food items such as:

    • Cooking chicken, cutting and cooking vegetables, make soups from scratch, and make dips

  • Order café supplies such as:

    • Cleaning supplies, cups/lids/food containers etc., supplies or replacement cooking equipment if necessary while keeping in a budget

  • Order food and beverage such as:

    • Alcohol ordering, food for baked goods and lunch items from Gordon’s using the Shipt app, Pepsi ordering

  • Understand expiration dates and shelf lives of products so you do not over-order or over-prep

  • Restocking coolers with food and beverage to prepare Café Staff for the week

  • Packaging and labeling food and baked goods

  • Work on menu changes with owner

  • Calculate food cost of new menu items, update cost of current ones if products change

  • Create monthly drink specials and the guides that accompany them

  • Able to use basic computer software such as Word, Publisher, etc. 

Responsibilities during Café Shifts

  • Manage and instruct any employees working in Café side

    • Keeping them on task, monitor their interactions with guests, delegate appropriate tasks and duties

  • Answer any guest questions that Café Staff may not be able to answer

  • Assist with set up and take down for events

  • Operate our POS system and handle money

  • Use our online booking system to check reservations

  • Prepare drink orders such as:

    • espresso drinks, smoothies, hot chocolates, and lemonades

  • Prepare food orders such as:

    • paninis, wraps, and dips

  • Clean the front and back of the Café including coolers, sinks, floors, etc.

  • Clean and set up the patio tables and chairs

  • In winter, help with snow removal on patio and sidewalk

  • Light prep work such as:

    • Portioning foods by weight into bags for future use

    • Cutting vegetables

    • Making lemonade, cold brewed tea, cold brew coffee

    • Restocking

    • Labeling baked goods
